Role Overview We’re seeking an Accounting Manager with 3–5+ years of experience who can take ownership of Cognota’s day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and wants to help build scalable accounting processes for a growing SaaS business. You will work closely with the COO and our experienced fractional VP, Finance, and collaborate cross-functionally with our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities Daily Accounting Operations Manage all aspects of A/P, A/R, and general ledger accounting Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts Process bi-weekly company payroll Month-End & Year-End Close Own the month-end close process and ensure timely, accurate reporting Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations Assist with annual audit and year-end activities Revenue Recognition Handle SaaS revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606/SaaS standards Monitor deferred revenue and contract accounting Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages Support cash flow forecasting and variance analysis Monthly & quarterly budget variance reports Partner with the COO on budgeting and financial planning Compliance & External Support Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors Maintain proper documentation, internal controls, and audit readiness Process & Systems Improvement Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows Recommend or help implement improvements to Xero, Approval Max, Float, or other systems Qualifications CPA designation (or actively pursuing) preferred 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in SaaS or recurring-revenue environments Strong understanding of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition Hands-on experience with Xero, Approval Max, Float, QBO, Net Suite, or similar tools Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills Excellent attention to detail, organizational capability, and communication skills Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-moving startup environment What We Offer Competitive compensation: CAD 70,000–85,000*, aligned with experience Opportunity to build scalable accounting foundations in a growing SaaS company Close collaboration with a seasoned fractional VP, Finance, and leadership team.
