Reporting to the Manager, Project Accounting, the Finance Co‑op Student will handle daily tasks such as general ledger maintenance, billings, payroll entries, and administrative duties within a 12–18 month placement beginning May 2026 (with possible extension).
What You'll Do Here- Assist with month‑end close off processes, including journal entries for divisional financial statements, elimination entries, recurring entries, and accruals.
- Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Perform monthly inter‑company reconciliations and confirmations with other Aecon divisions.
- Handle monthly JV billings and associated reconciliations.
- Analyze accounts and prepare working papers and schedules.
- Prepare joint‑venture financial statements for JV partners.
- Conduct reconciliations and variance analysis, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
- Reconciling and approving company credit card transactions.
- Build and maintain Excel reporting models for monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Assist with preparation of business plans and quarterly forecasts, entering and maintaining data in the accounting system.
- Participate in interim and year‑end audit and reporting requirements.
- Assist with year‑end tax worksheets.
- Assist with client reporting.
- Document and ensure continuous process improvements within the area of responsibility.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.

- Enrolled in a related post‑secondary education co‑op program, working towards an Accounting/Finance designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA).
- Demonstrated computer software proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required.
- Excellent organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
