Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE - SRS)

The 50/50 joint venture between Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres farther into Scarborough, replacing Line 3 (the Scarborough RT). It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough.

The construction is split into two contracts:
Advanced (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS). Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is the partner for the development phase.

As part of the STC project, FCC is looking for an Accountant to join our team.

Reports to:
Accounting Manager

Main Responsibilities

• Work closely with cost control and procurement teams to process Purchase Order Good Receipts in SAP according to invoices approved to ensure project costs are processed accurately and on a timely basis.
• Respond to vendor inquiries, maintain good vendor relations, and solve problems.
• Process payment run and liaise with AP department as required.
• Perform journal entries for company credit card expenses, verify GL accounts and network activity codes for employee reimbursement via Concur and make GL adjustment where necessary.
• Prepare monthly back charge invoices working file of staff costs and recoverable expenses.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations related to Balance Sheet accounts.
• Generate trial balances to identify errors and follow up with corrections.
• Monthly credit card reconciliation to ensure costs and payments are recorded properly.
• Assist with month end close & prepare necessary journal entries.
• Assist with assigning general ledger accounts to new Purchase Orders in Aconex.
• Assist with IFRS 16 lease accounting schedule and transaction preparations and monthly lease related GL accounts reconciliation
• Assist with generating and analyzing project cost reports by cost code to ensure correct cost codes are used.
• Assist with process documentation and ensure continuous process improvements are applied within area of responsibility.
• Assist with audits - financial, Internal control, client audit & tax.
• Ad-hoc tasks assigned by manager and initiatives as required.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
• 3+ years of experience, preferably in construction industry.
• Must be a CPA or in process of attaining designation.
• Knowledge of Full Cycle Accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
