A reputable mid‑size public accounting firm is seeking a Tax Specialist to join its collaborative tax team. This role offers hands‑on exposure to corporate, personal, and trust tax, plus mentorship from experienced managers and partners in a supportive, learning‑driven environment.
About the RoleReporting to senior members of the tax team, the Tax Specialist will assist with the preparation of complex tax returns, tax planning projects, and client correspondence with tax authorities. The position is ideal for professionals pursuing their CPA and In‑Depth Tax course who want to deepen their technical expertise in Canadian tax.
What You’ll Do- Prepare corporate, personal, trust, partnership, and HST tax returns.
- Assist with tax planning engagements and advisory projects.
- Draft tax slips, elections, and information forms.
- Liaise with tax authorities on behalf of clients.
- Research and analyze technical tax issues.
- Support audits and cross‑functional engagements with assurance teams.
- Mentor co‑op and junior staff as needed.
- 3+ years of Canadian tax experience in public accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Enrollment in or intent to pursue the CPA In‑Depth Tax Course.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Proficiency with tax and accounting software (e.g., Tax Prep, Case Ware, or equivalents).
- High attention to detail and commitment to continuous learning.
