Facility Maintenance Worker II
Department: Facility Management, Department of Administration.
Hourly Wage: $17.36/Regular/Full-Time.
Performs general carpentry, electrical, heating & air conditioning, painting, and plumbing duties as required to repair, modify, and/or construct facilities under the Yakama Nation Facility Management Program. Also performs grounds maintenance and janitorial duties, maintains and monitors safety equipment, and operates and uses a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, janitorial equipment, and ground maintenance equipment. Responsible for the cleanliness and basic maintenance of Yakama Nation Properties, maintenance of tools, and ensuring safe storage of tools when not in use.
Responsibilities- Carpentry work including renovation, alteration, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, partitions, doors, windows, wooden fixtures, and installation of hardware on doors, windows, and furniture.
- Electrical repairs and installations; install and test electrical fixtures, control equipment, and wiring; maintain and repair electrically operated equipment.
- Plumbing duties including diagnosing and repairing plumbing systems typical of residential and light commercial buildings, and installing various plumbing fixtures and systems.
- Painting tasks for ceilings, walls, doors (interior and exterior), varnishing, and applying both oil base and water base paint using spray guns, brushes, or rollers.
- Grounds maintenance: cleaning interiors, keeping campus free of weeds and debris, and maintenance of utility systems for various sites.
- Other trades work including welding, cement work, plastering, tiling, and carpeting.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager of Facility Management.
- Knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment of one or more of the building, mechanical, and electrical trades.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in general building maintenance work.
- Knowledge of residential and light commercial electrical systems to diagnose and select repair methods for common electrical problems.
- Ability to perform skilled work in one or more trades.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interpret plans and sketches associated with one or more trades.
- Skill in the use and care of the tools, materials, and equipment of the applicable trades.
- Two years carpenter experience or two years maintenance work or successful completion of technical school training in a related field.
- High School Diploma or GED, or any experience or education that demonstrates the ability to perform the work outlined.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug test.
- Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
