Title
Maintenance Supervisor – Carpentry/Painting/Locks
Reports ToFacilities Manager
Position PurposeTo organize and direct the carpentry/panting/locks department in order to keep the District’s facilities and equipment maintained and operational so that they present no problems or interruptions to the education program.
Qualifications- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a masters certification or eight years experience in finish carpentry and rough carpentry within a commercial, industrial, or facilities operation setting.
- Experience and training in painting, finish work, plastering, ceiling tile installation/repair, drywall installation/repair, carpentry, insulation, carpet installation/repair, flooring installation/repair, ceramic tile installation/repair, glass block, weather stripping, window installation/repair, door installation/repair, and door hardware and lock installation/repair. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as determined to be appropriate and acceptable.
- Knowledge of commercial/industrial practices, processes, OSHA regulations, American with Disability Act regulations, and applicable code requirements related to the carpentry, painting, plastering, and locksmith trade.
- Knowledge of standard practices, tools, and terminology in painting, plastering, carpentry, flooring, weather stripping, window installation/repair, door installation/repair, and other assigned skill areas.
- Familiarity with mixing and matching paints and stains, lay out/stencil signs, scraping, sanding, and removing graphite, removing graffiti, etc.
- Familiarity with mixing and matching mortar, plaster, and stucco to desired consistency, creating decorative textures in finishing coats using brushes, trowels, sand, pebbles or stones, and using sanding and buffing tools to smooth surfaces.
- Familiarity with maintaining pre-defined master key systems, cutting and issuing keys, re-keying, installing, and repairing locks and hardware.
- Experience with Falcon and Sargent master lock systems preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs to include word processing, spreadsheets, Power Point, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, direct, and engage personnel in carrying out multiple work assignments.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a highly demanding team atmosphere, make decisions with limited data, and process information in an orderly, accurate, and timely manner.
- Ability to write specifications and schematics, and to work from blueprints, sketches, written and verbal instruction, and to understand the technical language within the assigned skill areas.
- Ability to design or modify components to meet job requirements in the assigned skill areas.
- Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license and possess a good driving record.
- Ability to work in varied weather and temperature conditions.
- Ability to work from heights and in confined areas.
- Knowledge of colors.
- Ability to perform work independently according to prescribed standards and procedures with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and possess basic computer skills.
- Dependability and the ability to get along with others.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, hazardous materials, and proper ways necessary to perform the assigned tasks.
- The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.
- The incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.

- Reports to the Facilities Manager to receive each day’s assignments.
