The General Laborer will be responsible for placing conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, place anchors, pedestals, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of the construction industry.
Responsibilities- Clean and prepare the construction site for work, removing debris and possible hazards
- Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead and underground lines
- Assists with installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches and switch gear
- Sets poles and anchors
- Assist the team in completing their tasks more effectively and meeting project objectives
- Identify utilities and watch dig crew dig to prevent utility hits.
- Clean up and maintain equipment.
- Restock trucks with supplies ensuring crews have the proper tools and supplies to complete the job.
- Securing the safety of yourself and others
- Operating vehicles and equipment in a professional manner
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, and at least one (1) year experience.
- On-the-job training offered. Must be available to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, sit
- Ability to use hands to handle or feet
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb and balance
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 100 lbs as needed
- Ability to maintain all safety expectations
- Works outdoors for extended periods
- Exposed to extreme weather conditions
- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains
- Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces
- Understands the basic concepts of equipment set up and grounding
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work as a team.
