Position Overview
The mission of I2S is to sustain and grow national leadership in the creation, dissemination, and commercialization of new technologies in computer systems, communication systems, and radar systems.
Job Description- 40% - Research Support:
Assist faculty with research activities such as data collection, data analysis, literature reviews, and organization of research materials. - 25% - Writing and Editing:
Contribute to the drafting, editing, and formatting of research manuscripts for submission to academic journals and conferences. - 15% - Project Meetings:
Participate in regular project meetings with faculty and research teams to discuss progress, brainstorm ideas, and receive feedback. - 10% - Conference Preparation and Participation:
Assist in the preparation of presentations, posters, or other materials for academic conferences; may include travel and presentation responsibilities if applicable. - 10% - Administrative and Logistical Support:
Manage research-related documentation, maintain project timelines, and assist with administrative tasks related to grant management, protocols, or submission logistics.
- Undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
- Programming experience in C++ / Java as evidenced by application materials.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Engineering or closely related field.
- Engineering GPA > 3.5.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre‑enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
- This is an hourly position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly position and a salaried graduate position (GRA/GTA/GA) concurrently.

This is a POOL position to hire multiple Student Research Assistants. Applications are accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the academic year (fall 2024 and spring 2025) and positions are filled as needed. Only one application is needed per academic year.
