Member of the care delivery team that encompasses the overall care of adults presenting to an ambulatory setting with gastroenterology associated health needs. Assumes responsibility and accountability for patients over a designated time frame and provides care to these patients through the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. Provides nursing care which includes assessing patients, administering medications & vaccinations, coordinating tests & further consultations, and providing scheduling of procedures, providing education & follow-up information to patients and families as appropriate.

All care provided will be with consideration of patients' physical and emotional needs.

Education

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Experience

Qualifications:

• 1 year Experience in a clinic setting. Preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified within the institution.
• Demonstrates awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution.
• Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning. Strives to manage situations in a manner that minimizes risk to the patient and the institution.
• Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, non-verbal, and written methods.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication administration and equipment calibration.

Licenses and

Certifications:

• Registered Nurse - KSBN. A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required
• Basic Life Support - BLS. RQI, CPR, or ACLS certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on the department. Must have within 90 days of hire.

• Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation & develops a collaborative plan encompassing strategies to achieve the expected outcomes.
• Observes, records, and reports patient's conditions, concerns, and results accurately to physicians.
• Triages and refers incoming telephone calls by collecting pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting.
• Implements identified plan through coordination of care and employs strategies to promote health and wellness.
• Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
• Mentors nurses new to their role for the purpose of ensuring successful enculturation, orientation, competence, and emotional support.
• Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring.
• Promotes a mutually respectful environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and supports the effectiveness of professional relationships.
• Practices Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles in their daily work.
• Participates actively in clinical education activities, including orientation of new employees and teaching student nurses.
• Participates in development and attainment of system-wide/department hospital goals.
• Responsible for quality of care given by self and understanding patients' rights.
• Delegates tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members.
• Demonstrates willingness to participate and lead nursing practice in process evolution.
• Utilizes appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based nursing services.
