Psychiatric RN – Medical Services

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is a member of the Medical Services team. This individual will use the nursing process, involving assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, as the foundation for clinical decision making for all persons served (PS). The Registered Nurse works with a multi-disciplinary team to provide and coordinate optimal services for each person’s behavioral health needs.

• Minimum Education:
  
  Graduate from accredited program of nursing education;
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred but not required; current Registered Nurse license with Kansas State Board of Nursing required.
• Psychiatric nursing experience preferred but not required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must maintain Kansas state licensure and appropriate continuing education units (CEUs).
• Must remain current with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Valid Kansas driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.
• Must have good command of the English language. Should read and communicate clearly and professionally (both verbally and in writing) with persons served and staff.
• Must have basic knowledge about medications and their side effects, or at least the ability to obtain the information quickly.
• Must be proficient at basic computer, keyboarding, and word processing skills.
• Must be able to pass a KBI security and DCF Child and Adult Abuse Registry check.
• Must be able to perform day-to-day physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to: 20% data entry, answering the phone and computer work; 80% lifting up to 50 pounds, frequently moving around the building and community, repetitive moving, carrying and lifting as the job demands.
• Must be able to kneel, bend, squat, and hold on to a person, in order to restrain an out-of-control person served.

$35.87 - $41.39
