Program Overview

Electro‑mechanical repair and overhaul of mail processing, delivery and bulk processing equipment, including repairing printed circuit boards, electrical, electronic, mechanical and electro‑mechanical assemblies to a component level. These services ensure the continued essential automation and mechanization of retail and bulk processing equipment used in mail processing and retail installations across the entire country.

About

The Role

Peraton is seeking an Assembly Screening Technician Lead to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals. The Assembly Screening Technician works at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Central Repair Facility (CRF) in Topeka, KS. The CRF is a depot repair facility for USPS mail processing, delivery, and bulk mail systems repairable parts. The CRF provides depot‑level maintenance for essential automation, mechanization, retail and bulk mail processing systems used in all mail processing and retail installations.

Our Assembly Screening Technician Leads serve as foremen responsible for directing the work of others while providing technical guidance to lower‑level technicians, assisting the supervisor as necessary, preparing or assisting in the preparation of reports, and performing any other duties as assigned. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems in various types of equipment.

  • Assist lower-level technicians with the performance of a variety of non‑complex assembly and disassembly tasks
  • Perform functional tests for quality of product according to specifications
  • Operate and test equipment to determine whether it is working properly per diagram, written or verbal instruction and identify issues (where applicable) by selecting, verifying and identifying needed material
  • Perform non‑complex modifications or repair of electronic, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical assemblies
  • Disassemble, assemble and/or install equipment or parts requiring non‑complex wiring or connecting
  • Screen for the need for repair of electronic, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical assemblies
  • Rotate through tasks per instruction, be detail‑oriented and safety‑oriented, meet schedules, and move items to staged areas
  • Assemble and label component kits from drawings or parts list
  • Check items for completeness and functionality, both mechanical and electronic
  • Analyze results and make repairs or adjustments to processes as required
  • May assemble prototype items
  • Engage in extensive interactions with internal and external customers
  • Perform other related tasks, as required
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED with two years formal technical training and a combined total of four years experience, or six years related experience in lieu of formal technical training, with demonstrated ability to perform
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Must have resided in the U.S. for the past five years with no more than six months of travel outside the U.S. during this time
  • Ability to utilize hand, power and pneumatic tools to assemble/disassemble structural or mechanical components
  • Apply safety awareness to tasks
  • Ability to read and interpret exploded view assembly drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
