• The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) assumes responsibility for performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• Performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

• Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related scientific field.
• ASCP or equivalent certification.
• Certification within a specific area such as M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP).
• Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
• If certification lapses, position will be downgraded until reinstated.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
