Mechanical Designer​/Design Engineer

• Ideally, 2+ years of 3D modeling experience using Solid Edge
  , Solid Works
  , and/or AutoCAD Inventor
• 2+ years of 2D drafting experience using AutoCAD
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a related field (Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design & Drafting, Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering, etc.)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, manufacturing, and methods, along with knowledge of assembly and welding procedures.
• Associate or technical degree in drafting or equivalent
• Understanding of welding, fixtures, CNC machines, metal, and plastic manufacturing methods is a plus.

Job Description

A manufacturing client of Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Design Engineer to add to their growing team in Topeka, KS! This position is responsible for producing detailed 3D models, shop drawings, and production documentation that support medium to large-scale sheet metal manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong drafting and modeling skills, a keen eye for detail, and experience in translating architectural and engineering designs into manufacturable solutions.

Duties Include:

• Develop accurate 3D models and shop drawings based on design documentation or reference drawings from internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Generate precise plans, sections, and details derived from 3D models or architectural drawings.
• Ensure all drawings are fully annotated, dimensioned, and aligned with the company's design standards and manufacturing practices.
• Manage large drawing sets, including handling revisions, markups, and project-specific documentation.
• Convert digital drawings into various formats and provide paper plot outputs as needed for production or field use.
• Create 3D renderings or visualizations to support marketing initiatives or client presentations as required.
