Mechanical​/Structural Designer II

Overview

A manufacturing client of Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical / Structural designer to join their growing team in Topeka, KS. This position is responsible for producing detailed 3D models, shop drawings, and production documentation that support medium to large-scale manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong drafting and modeling skills, a keen eye for detail, and experience in translating architectural and engineering designs into manufacturable solutions.

• Develop accurate 3D models and shop drawings based on design documentation or reference drawings from internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Generate precise plans, sections, and details derived from 3D models or architectural drawings.
• Ensure all drawings are fully annotated, dimensioned, and aligned with the company s design standards and manufacturing practices.
• Manage large drawing sets, including handling revisions, markups, and project-specific documentation.
• Convert digital drawings into various formats and provide paper plot outputs as needed for production or field use.
• Create 3D renderings or visualizations to support marketing initiatives or client presentations as required.

• 3 - 5 years of professional 3D modeling experience using Solid Edge, Solid Works, or CAD.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes and manufacturing; knowledge of assembly and welding procedures.
• Associate or technical degree in drafting or equivalent.
