Compensation- Annual Salary Range: $48,484.80 - $53,684.80
- Hourly Pay Range: $23.31 - $25.81
Position Summary:
This Regional Industrial Hygienist position is within the Division of Safety and will be located in Topeka, Salina, or Chanute. This position will lead Agency safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement in Districts 1, 2 and 4 within KDOT, creating a safe, compliant, and hazard-free workplace.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Proactively conducts comprehensive workplace inspections to identify and assess potential hazards across all operational areas.
- Collaborates with management to design, implement, and manage effective corrective action plans to eliminate or control identified risks.
- Utilizes technical expertise to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for challenging environmental, health, and safety issues.
- Accurately enters EHS data and generates clear, concise, and professional Health Inspection reports for internal record-keeping and regulatory compliance.
- Serves as a key EHS resource, effectively communicating complex EHS information to employees, leadership, and external regulatory bodies or stakeholders.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Six years of direct experience in industrial hygiene, chemistry, or related field.
- Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Transcripts are required for education to be considered. - Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A basic understanding of safety, chemistry and biology.
- Demonstrates attention to detail along with clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A willingness to learn and grow to meet the needs of the agency.
- OSHA General and Construction Certification.
