Job Posting:
Elementary School Principal
Reports To:
General Director of Elementary Education, Superintendent
Purpose:
To use leadership and management skills to promote the educational development of each student.

Qualifications
* Licensure:
Must possess or be able to obtain a Kansas building administrator license by the date of appointment.
* Experience:
Required experience in planning, organization, supervision, and evaluation.
* Skills:
Expertise in curriculum leadership, personnel guidance, budgeting, law, and community relations.
* Preferred:
Doctorate and 3 years of administrative experience.
* Physical/Emotional:
High stamina for long hours, consistency of temperament, and ability to manage multiple complex problems simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
* Lead the development and monitoring of the instructional and co-curricular programs.
* Approve master schedules and monitor the school accreditation process.
* Ensure the teaching of the written curriculum and help staff utilize resources.
* Use student assessment data to identify problems and implement program improvements.
* Prioritize student achievement and identify/respond to at-risk students.

Staff Supervision & Relations
* Supervise and evaluate all professional, administrative, and nonprofessional personnel.
* Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training; manage the orientation of new staff.
* Recommend removal of staff whose work is unsatisfactory.
* Model human relations skills and foster collegial relationships among staff.
* Communicate high expectations and provide motivation to reach them.
School Operations & Workplace Management
* Maintain high visibility and develop positive staff morale.
* Implement a fair discipline code and maintain standards of student conduct.
* Protect instructional time and minimize interruptions.
* Lead the school leadership team and delegate authority as necessary.
Communication & Community Engagement
* Keep the Superintendent informed of school activities and challenges.
* Maintain ongoing communication with parents, students, and community groups.

* Effectively utilize community resources and volunteers to promote learning.
* Work with the Central Office and other principals to share expertise.
Financial & Facility Management
* Prepare and administer the school budget and supervise finances.
* Ensure facility safety, including security personnel and emergency drills/evacuations.
* Maintain accurate personnel, student, and fiscal records.
* Allocate resources (supplies, equipment, space) for optimum teaching.
Professionalism & Problem Solving
* Utilize the TPS Strategic Plan and Learning Principles for decision-making.
* Interpret and ensure compliance with District, State, and Federal regulations.
* Remain current on professional developments through research and meetings.
Terms of Employment
* Salary and work year determined by the Board of Education.
* Evaluated in accordance with Board policy on administrator evaluation.
