The Technical Director coordinates the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and other live and recorded productions.
27 KSNT is seeking two part-time Technical Directors to work in our control room and execute daily newscasts, primarily Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. This role is responsible for the technical production of our shows in an automated control room environment.
Owned by Nexstar Media, the largest media company in the U.S., we operate an award-winning newsroom in an active state capital market. Our stations cover competitive news, Division I athletics and a vibrant arts and culture scene. We are the NBC, FOX, ABC and CW affiliates for the region.
Position Summary The Technical Director coordinates all technical aspects of live and recorded productions, working closely with producers, talent, news and engineering to deliver clean, high-energy newscasts.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate the technical operation of the studio during live newscasts and recorded productions
* Switch video sources and manage timing during live broadcasts
* Monitor video and graphics feeds to verify quality and accuracy in real time
* Direct camera and video staff regarding framing and composition
* Operate and adjust robotic cameras, graphics engines and audio console as needed
* Serve as a technical liaison between the news and engineering departments
* Test equipment to ensure proper operation before and during broadcasts
* Assist producers and on-air talent to execute dynamic, well-paced newscasts
* Help with video editing for newscasts when needed
* Perform other duties as assigned
* Requirements and Skills
* High school diploma required
* Fluency in English
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Familiarity with Ross Over Drive, Xpression, AP ENPS, Ross robotic cameras and Adobe Premiere is a plus
* Proficiency with broadcast control room equipment
* Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
