Position Overview
This position will assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children in a childcare setting. Responsibilities include supporting daily routines, promoting positive interactions, and helping to implement age-appropriate activities that encourage learning and development. The role also involves ensuring the well-being of all children by maintaining a clean and organized space, following health and safety guidelines, and collaborating with other staff members to provide consistent, high-quality care.
Job Description98% – Childcare Services
- Provide high-quality care and support for children in a childcare setting.
Responsibilities include: - Ensuring compliance with KDHE licensing regulations
- Engaging with children at an appropriate developmental level
- Implementing positive behavior management strategies
- Collecting and maintaining accurate data related to child development and program activities
2% – Team Collaboration
- Support and collaborate with other staff members to maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing environment for all children.
- Must have completed at least 3 clock hours of child development training, or indicate in application materials a willingness to complete this training prior to the start date.
- Willingness to obtain pediatric First Aid certification within 30 days of employment, as indicated in application materials
- Willingness to obtain pediatric CPR certification within 30 days of employment, as indicated in application materials
- Previous experience working with children, as indicated in application materials.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
- This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
