Welder

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and MRTFB,
NDAA
1125 (a) and (c) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Tooele Army Depot. This position performs welding duties on a wide range of chemical and conventional ammunition renovation and demilitarization equipment.

• Determine and set parameters on various types of welding machines.
• Use precision measuring tools in order to layout and fit structural parts and determine the areas for welding.
• Use blueprints, work orders, drawings, and/or specifications, to determine appropriate supplies and equipment required to perform welding tasks.
• Maintain welding equipment, such as checking for cleanliness and fluid levels, prior to use.
• Troubleshoot welding equipment for minor repairs.
• Determine the effects and reactions different types of welding processes and techniques have on various types of metals.
• Perform welding on items within assemblies where close tolerance is required.
• Control metals and equipment to prevent distortion or damage of parts being welded.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be certified through the standards of the American Welding Society. AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX (6G position) within 6 months of appointment.
• May be required to travel TDY 5% of the time.
