Neway International are seeking a Social Worker (Grade 11) to join our client based with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.

About the Client

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council provides a wide range of community and social care services, including specialist support for children with disabilities. Their Disabled Children’s Service is made up of five teams:
Enablement, 0–11, 11+, Eligibility, and Occupational Therapy. The service is committed to early intervention, safeguarding, and supporting families to achieve positive outcomes.

The Role

This role sits within the 0–11 Team, which focuses on early intervention and targeted support for children with lifelong, permanent, and substantial disabilities. You will work collaboratively with families, health partners, education providers, and other agencies to strengthen family resilience, reduce the risk of breakdown, and ensure children’s needs are met. The role includes managing safeguarding concerns, supporting families through court proceedings, and working with looked-after children and adoption cases.

You will be part of a supportive and experienced management structure, with regular supervision, in-person team meetings, wellbeing check-ins, and opportunities for professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver early intervention support to children aged 0–11 with permanent and substantial disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Manage safeguarding risks linked to disabled children and their siblings.
  • Support families throughout court proceedings, including work with looked-after children and adoption.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and wellbeing sessions.
  • Contribute to a nurturing, supportive team culture.
  • Uphold the council’s policies on safeguarding, equality, and professional standards.
Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

Professional qualification in Social Work (Diploma in Social Work, BA/BSc/MA in Social Work, CQSW) as required by Social Care Wales.

Experience & Skills
  • Experience working with disabled children and families in a statutory setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, early intervention, and multi-agency working.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and partners.
  • Commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development.
