About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and motivated Band 6 Charge Nurse to join our rehabilitation-focused inpatient ward. With 14 beds supporting both step‑up and step‑down patients, our service plays a vital role in helping individuals regain independence, build confidence and safely return home. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to high‑quality, patient‑centred care. As a Charge Nurse, you'll take a leading role in the day‑to‑day running of the ward while delivering excellent clinical care.
Responsibilities- Providing hands‑on personal care and clinical support to patients
- Acting as a positive role model and supporting junior colleagues in their development
- Supervising and teaching students on placement
- Completing admission assessments, onward referrals and contributing to discharge planning
- Managing a daily caseload and ensuring safe, effective patient flow
- Attending MDT meetings, daily board rounds and family meetings to support collaborative care
- Monitoring patient progress, identifying deterioration and taking appropriate action
- Leading the ward operationally and providing cover for the Matron when required
37.5 hours – day shifts – long days.
EligibilityOpen only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.
