Speech & Language Therapist – Term-Time (2 Days per Week)
Contract:
Permanent (may consider locum)
Hours:
2 days / 14.8 hours per week, term-time only
Job Description An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Speech & Language Therapist to join an independent specialist day school based in West Kent, specialist education setting supporting children and young people with complex needs. This role is term-time only, working two days per week. You will offer individualised interventions and engagement to pupils with a range of complex educational needs, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviours.
Main Duties
Undertake comprehensive speech and language therapy assessments for children and young people with diverse and complex needs.
Develop and deliver individualised therapy plans based on clinical formulation and evidence-based practice.
Provide specialist advice, training, and support to education and residential staff to ensure therapeutic approaches are embedded in daily practice.
Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to promote effective communication, engagement, and learning outcomes.
Contribute to EHCP processes, progress reviews, and multi-agency meetings.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional standards.
Support the development of communication-friendly environments and resources across the setting.
Requirements
Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
HCPC registration and membership of RCSLT.
Experience of working with children and young people with complex communication needs, autism, and/or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and experience of delivering individual and group therapy.
Enhanced DBS (assistance can be provided).
