Junior Designer-Solar PV & LED Lighting

Role Overview

The Junior Designer will support the Operations team in delivering Solar PV and LED lighting projects from feasibility through to installation. The role involves technical design development, drawing production, cost support, and coordination of survey and procurement information.

This is a junior position and full training will be provided. However, candidates with relevant technical experience or prior exposure to Solar PV or lighting design will have an advantage.

This is an office-based, full-time role, with regular collaboration with the Operations and Project Delivery teams.

• Produce feasibility designs for Solar PV systems
• Develop mounting layouts for flat and pitched roof installations
• Prepare 2D and 3D CAD drawings
• Complete LED lighting designs including layout and basic lux calculations
• Assist with basic budget costing
• Maintain drawing revision control and documentation standards
• Process and interpret survey documentation and incorporate findings into design revisions
• Check equipment orders against approved design specifications to ensure technical accuracy

• Basic understanding of Solar PV systems or electrical installations
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and site survey information
• Good numerical skills for quantity take-offs and basic costing
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

• Competence in AutoCAD or similar 2D design software
• Experience with Solar Edge Designer for system configuration
• Familiarity with PVSol or Helioscope for yield modelling and feasibility studies
• Experience producing mounting layouts for flat and pitched roof systems
• Exposure to LED lighting design and lux calculations
• Previous experience working within a project delivery or operations environment
