Role Overview

This position provides mental health counseling services to OCC and Kean‑Ocean students. The College is seeking a bilingual, licensed mental health counselor who can provide clinical counseling services in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for OCC and Kean‑Ocean students, as well as other participants in specific campus programs.
  • Manage interventions for emotional and psychological distress, and conduct follow‑up counseling and/or case management services.
  • Complete accurate documentation for services provided and maintain confidential student files.
  • Provide consultative services to faculty and staff regarding student behavior and situations.
  • Provide support/intervention to the CARE Team.
  • Work collaboratively with other college departments and external community agencies to ensure comprehensive services, programs and seminars for the college community.
  • Collaborate with staff on grant‑funded projects and services.
  • Perform related projects and duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
    • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Human Services with a focus on clinical mental health counseling.
    • Two or more years of experience in mental health counseling, providing direct services to individuals and groups.
    • Demonstrated skill in responding to clients in high emotional distress or psychological crisis.
    • Possession of LAC, LSW or other related mental health licensure in New Jersey; an LPC or LCSW must be secured within 3 years of hire if not already licensed.
    • Experience in college or community college environment.
    • Understanding of addiction and recovery issues (preferred).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related technology for documentation and reporting.
