Position: Community Health Worker (CHW) Program Instructor
Overview
The Community Health Worker (CHW) Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students enrolled in Community Health Worker training programs. This position plays a critical role in preparing students to serve as frontline public health professionals by integrating real-world community health practices, culturally responsive teaching strategies, and workforce readiness skills. The instructor will support diverse learners and foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment aligned with state and institutional standards.

Rate: $458/CEU (Continuing Education Units)
* Pay per class is dependent on the number of assigned Continuing Education Units (1 CEU is equivalent to 10 hours of work)
Responsibilities
Deliver instruction aligned with the Community Health Worker curriculum, learning objectives, and program outcomes.Facilitate engaging classroom discussions and activities related to community health, outreach, advocacy, and social determinants of health.Support students in understanding the roles, responsibilities, and ethical standards of Community Health Workers.Adapt instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including adult learners and individuals from underserved communities.Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment that encourages open dialogue around complex and sensitive topics.Assess student learning through assignments, activities, and evaluations in accordance with program guidelines.Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and instructional records as required.Collaborate with Workforce Education staff and academic partners to support student success and program quality.Participate in required orientations, trainings, and meetings related to the CHW program.Other related duties as assigned.Qualifications
Approved Instructor of the Community Health Worker Program by the New Jersey Department of Health or plan to participate in upcoming trainings.Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Health Education, or a closely related discipline. (Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal educational requirements.)Three (3) years of experience working in community health, public health outreach, or community engagement.Strong understanding of the needs, challenges, and strengths of New Jersey’s most at-risk and underserved populations.Prior teaching, training, or classroom facilitation experience.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Health Education, or a closely related discipline.Five (5) years of experience working in community health, public health outreach, or community engagement.Experience teaching adult learners in workforce development or community-based education programs.Familiarity with New Jersey community health systems, public health initiatives, and social service networks.Experience facilitating discussions on complex or sensitive topics.Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.Bilingual Spanish.#J-18808-Ljbffr
