Pay Range: $84,773.00 – $98,418.00 per year
Job OverviewAlong with other core team members, the Early Intervention Physical Therapist (PT) screens, evaluates, provides ongoing assessment, aids in the development of an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for each child and provides direct services to children eligible for early intervention services with delays in physical, cognitive, communication, social, and adaptive development. The PT, along with other team members, instructs parents and caregivers by modeling appropriate strategies to incorporate into the family routines.
The PT discusses progress, challenges, and prepares a transition/discharge plan.
- Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy program
- New Jersey Licensed Physical Therapist
- Valid NJ driver’s license and required insurance
- At least 2 years experience working with young children with disabilities
- Targeted Evaluation team members require 2 years pediatric experience working and evaluating children ages 0-5
- Sound background in normal child development
- Knowledge of the educational and therapeutic value of early intervention
- Knowledge of basic principles of behavior management
- Ability to conceptualize, interpret, and integrate early childhood education and intervention techniques into family routines
- New Jersey Licensed Physical Therapist
- New Jersey Driver's License
- Full Time
- 40 hours/week
- Completes developmental evaluations in the child’s natural environment that accurately and efficiently identify strengths and needs
- Communicates effectively with families and other team members in oral and written format
- Supports family’s ability to interact with their child in daily routines
- Displays competency in providing strategies appropriate to the IFSP
- Recommends ongoing services in collaboration with family and team members
- Uses NW Birth to Three Early Learning Standards as common framework for developmentally appropriate expectations
- Demonstrates knowledge of discipline‑specific tools to assess child needs and differentiate strategies among team members
- Addresses IFSP outcomes by selecting/adapting appropriate activities and evidence‑based strategies
- Evaluates effectiveness of methods while meeting family outcomes
- Maintains sensitivity to parent circumstances, confidentiality, and adheres to NJEIS Code of Conduct
- Completes session notes according to departmental rules; records data as appropriate
- Takes responsibility for supervision/consultation and participates in performance reviews
- Assists in training others in EI philosophy and intervention models
- Communicates job‑specific concerns and participates in solution development
- Attends and participates in in‑service trainings, staff meetings, and conference calls
- Travels in personal vehicle to families’ natural environments
- Accurately records frequency of services and submits required billing and paperwork
- Maintains ongoing communication with office via email, text, and phone; responds quickly to requests
