The City of Tomball is accepting applications for full‑time Firefighter positions. These firefighters are responsible for fire suppression, prevention, public education, rescue activities, and first‑aid response to medical emergencies.
Essential Duties- Works shift schedules including weekends, holidays, and extended hours in emergency or disaster situations.
- Runs, walks, stoops, bends, crawls, rolls, climbs, jumps, lifts heavy objects (up to 200 lbs. and more), and operates assigned equipment and vehicles while performing fire prevention and suppression duties.
- Advances charged and flowing fire hoses discharging up to 250 gpm at 100 psi spray or fog limits, or 50 psi straight‑bore tip pressure.
- Performs fire‑fighting operations including deploying and operating hoses, pumping apparatus, directing water streams or other chemicals, and raising and climbing unsupported ladders including ground and aerial up to 100 feet.
- Searches and rescues trapped or injured persons, including swift‑water rescue work with or without a boat.
- Provides first aid and EMS to injured persons up to the level authorized by EMTесед the EMT or Paramedic certification.
- Works under dangerous conditions and hostile environments during fire suppression, emergency medical activities, aircraft emergencies, and incidents involving hazardous chemicals.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Basic (or higher) Firefighter certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection or a Firefighter I and II IFSAC Seal.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Completed NIMS‑100, 200, 700, and 800.
- Must possess and maintain throughout employment a Texas Department of State Health Services or National Registry EMT certification or higher.
- Valid Class‑C Texas motor‑vehicle operator’s license; must obtain a Class‑B license within 1 year of employment.
- Successfully pass a physical agility test and oral interview board.
- Successfully pass a pre‑employment physical exam, background check, and drug screen.
$19.52 per hour (approximately $58,813 per year) based on a 48 on/96 offcause schedule and a 53 hour work week.
