Assistant Superintendent

Giant Oak Golf Club is seeking a motivated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy team. If you’re a hands‑on turf pro who takes pride in details—clean mowing, smart moisture management, and doing the fundamentals every day we want to meet you. Giant Oak is a 27‑hole golf facility located in Temperance, Michigan (SE Michigan / Toledo, Ohio area). We have been a family‑owned and operated business since 1969.

• Assist with daily golf course setup, scheduling, mowing, and maintenance duties; train/coach staff in golf course maintenance practices
• Participate in agronomic programs for greens, tees, fairways, and rough
• Assist with fertilizer, plant protect ant, and cultural practice applications
• Monitor turf conditions and communicate observations/recommendations
• Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repair
• Train and mentor seasonal and full‑time employees
• Assist with project planning, execution, and documentation
• Support tournament preparation and special events
• Promote and enforce safety and environmental practices
• Keep equipment standards high (cleanliness, safety checks, reporting issues early)
• Maintain strong communication with the superintendent/owner and maintenance crew
• This is a 12‑month position. During winter months the assistant helps with equipment maintenance, outside projects (e.g. tree removal), and maintenance projects in the clubhouse
