Overview
Pet Groomer Stylist (Dog Groomer) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and best in class salon services, and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role shares responsibility for cleanliness and pet health and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Independently perform full menu of bath, brush and grooming services and standalone services (e.g., nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitization) in accordance with Pet Smart’s bathing standards and procedures.
- Recommend additional health and wellness solutions with pet parents based on the pet’s needs.
- Manage pet parent experience and outcomes in person, over the phone, and at the sales register.
- Greet pet parents, answer questions, and assist with making reservations in the salon.
- Conduct salon appointment reminder calls, maintain client records, and consult with pet parents on services offered.
- Perform check-in/check-out procedures for grooming appointments, including paperwork and rebooking.
- Promote opportunities to grow salon sales to help achieve sales targets and other salon metrics.
- Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise and services.
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area; perform routine maintenance and end-of-day cleaning per the maintenance checklist.
- Take immediate action if a sick or injured pet is identified, including transport to a veterinarian as needed.
- Assist in other departments as required; participate in the culture of Belonging and Recognition.
- Follow all Company Policies and Procedures.
- Prior grooming experience, or 6 months of experience as a Stylist in Training with successful completion of Pet Smart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification, or pass the salon technical evaluation.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure.
- Flexibility in schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and safety.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, or write; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch. Depth perception required. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally team lift more than 100 pounds. Depth perception required.
- Exposure to moving parts, wet environments with pet hair; moderate to high noise levels; exposure to live animals and handling.
