Job DescriptionThe Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) is a professional RN with oncology specific clinical knowledge and skills that demonstrates expertise in providing education, consultation and research that allow the patient and family to informed decisions and have timely access to healthcare throughout the cancer care continuum. The characteristics which define the unique role of the ONN are accountability, change agent, collaboration, autonomy, leadership, and role modeling.
The ONN demonstrates clinical competency in caring for patients over the life cycle (infants, children, adolescents, adults, and/or geriatrics) as per specialty population.
- Current license as RN in the state of Ohio required.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- CPR certification required
- Oncology nursing experience preferred.
- Oncology Navigation Certification to be obtained within the first year.
- Skill in coordinating care needs.
- Communication and other skills:
Good written and verbal communication skills to allow for patient care, functioning as a team member, to ensure adequate documentation and to ensure continuity of care.
