The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc. (AOoA) is seeking a dedicated, community-focused Senior Hunger Solutions Specialist to lead initiatives that address food insecurity, loneliness, and other social determinants of health. This position plays a vital role in connecting older adults to essential nutrition services, coordinating with community partners, and advocating for systemic change—ensuring seniors across Northwest Ohio have access to the food and support they need to thrive.
Responsibilities- Coordinate hunger mitigation services with clients, AOoA staff, and community agencies.
- Conduct in-home assessments and determine eligibility for programs like home-delivered meals and SNAP.
- Refer clients to other AOoA programs such as PASSPORT, Plan 4 Home, Family Caregiver, and Kinship Navigator.
- Maintain updated contacts for hunger-related resources and manage client data in Wellsky Aging & Disability.
- Collaborate with Lucas County meal providers and assist with quality assurance monitoring.
- Compile program statistics and contribute to departmental reports.
- Represent AOoA at community coalitions, statewide networks, and public events.
- Support advocacy efforts and public education around senior nutrition and food access.
- Participate in agency-wide initiatives and special projects.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Nutrition, Human Services, or related field.
- Preferred: Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience in hunger relief, program management, or community organizing.
- Experience with grant writing, coalition building, and public policy advocacy is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders and analyze program data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based data systems.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
