Position: Commercial Lines Account Manager (CL AM)

Account Manager (AM):
The AM and producer are a team that work for the mutual benefit of the agency and the client. The AM is a highly skilled person focused on serving the client in a proactive way, developing relationships with carriers, clients, and producers, and executing tasks timely and accurately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Routine service work for clients.
  • Order changes to current policies.
  • Order and review renewals for accuracy.
  • Remarket policies, as agreed upon. This includes all app preparation and submission if not being quoted by marketer.
  • Issue certificates and evidences.
  • Provide MVRs when requested.
  • Report losses and follow-up with the client.
  • Maintain follow-ups to ten days.
  • Document electronic file completely and thoroughly.
  • Utilize agency’s latest technology to perform tasks.
  • Work with Account Assistants on questions related to processing.
  • Review and process audits.
Advanced Consultation
  • Understand policy forms of various carriers.
  • Be able to make policy comparisons.
  • Identify risks and coverage gaps.
  • Consult with producer on coverage concerns/issues.
  • Visit client’s location and engage in client meetings when asked.
Producer-AM Relationship
  • Advise the producer of any significant changes to the client account. Producer will do the same.
  • Meet weekly to discuss client issues.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Initiative. The AM is expected to take initiative to handle service requests, coverage questions, claims reporting from clients, referring only to the producer when mutually agreed upon.
  • Knowledge of marketplace. The AM is expected to know the carrier niches and share ideas on account placement with the producer. Carrier placement is a team discussion.
  • Underwriter relationships. The AM is expected to forge positive working relationships with carrier underwriters.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude…with a smile. The AM volunteers to take on tasks in order to provide excellent client service and free the producer to solicit.
  • Insurance knowledge. The AM pursues or has earned advanced insurance designation(s) such as CIC.
  • Computer skills. The AM uses the latest technology, has advanced skills in Applied Epic, Excel, Outlook, and network directory functions. Additionally, the AM maneuvers the agency website with ease and proactively trains clients on the website’s functions.
  • Professionalism and accuracy. The AM’s written communications are clear and free of grammatical errors. Service requests are done accurately the first time. Carrier errors are caught and corrected in a timely fashion.
  • Accounting. Invoicing and billing tasks are handled and understood by the AM. These include agency bill vs. direct bill, transactions, E&S invoicing, and carrier billing programs.
Requirements
  • College education or equivalent insurance experience preferred.
  • Must hold a current Resident Insurance Agent for Property and Casualty license, or obtain one in the first 90 days of employment.

  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking, sales environment requiring ongoing learning and complex problem solving.
  • Extensive client contact may require frequent car travel including traveling with experienced Producers.

Reporting Relationships

This individual works for the producers assigned to the team and is supervised directly by a Team Leader.
