Overview
Dispense prescription medications as prescribed by licensed health care providers, provide patient counseling on medication use, and advise healthcare professionals on drug selection, dosage, and interactions. May also administer immunizations. Works under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy.
Responsibilities- Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
- Prepare and dispense drugs, including controlled substances, as prescribed by licensed health care providers, ensuring accuracy and proper labeling.
- Educates patients about their prescriptions.
- Advise patients of alternatives (generics) for cost effectiveness.
- Verify insurance information.
- Balance cash drawer.
- Maintain quality control and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, standards, medication safety, and patient care.
- Maintain appropriate records to ensure safe and accurate inventory.
- Ensure accurate receipt of products into the pharmacy computer systems.
- Oversee the security of the pharmacy and its inventory.
- Assist customers at the cash register.
- Stock over-the-counter medications or goods.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
- Completes all tasks within established time frames.
- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
- Active Ohio Pharmacist License in good standing with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
- Maintains awareness of the department’s budget and works within budgetary figures.
- Interprets and reviews financials and explains when expenses or liabilities are excessive.
- Establishes departmental goals and achieves them within established time frames.
- Effectively recruits, retains, disciplines, and trains staff.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Pharm
D with experience considered.
- Five years of previous retail pharmacy experience preferred.
