The Clinical Therapist is responsible for providing a safe environment for clients while they are in treatment. They will provide individual therapy sessions and assist in facilitating treatment groups. This position coordinates, develops, and carries out treatment plans for the clients in their caseload. They will also need to complete documentation for all services rendered in a timely manner and meet productivity standards.
CoreResponsibilities
- Diagnose substance use disorder and/or other co-occurring psychiatric disorders within scope of practice.
- Evaluate the health of patients and participate in the creation, updating, and reviewing of personalized treatment plans for all clients based on their recommended level of care.
- Provide individual and group treatment sessions utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Complete documentation on all services rendered in a timely manner.
- Coach patients on development of healthy activities, coping skills, and the dangers of unhealthy behaviors.
- Assist in de-escalating issues and responding to emergencies; administering care while contacting and communicating with appropriate emergency personnel.
- Participate in departmental and company training and meetings.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for clients and staff.
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.
Bachelor's degree in social work, Behavioral Science, or applicable field of study required. Master's degree preferred.
License Requirement- LSW or LPC required.
- CPR certification required, will train upon hire.
- Knowledge and experience in coordinating patient care and treating patients with behavioral health disorders and substance use disorders, including Medication Assisted Treatments.
- Must be proficient in electronic health record management systems and documentation, as well as the utilization of office and clinical technologies.
- Advanced ability to educate patients, staff, and the community on health issues and promoting overall wellness.
- Must possess conflict management and crisis intervention experience and skills, as well as the ability to effectively apply problem-solving skills while providing real time solutions.
- Must possess interpersonal and interprofessional collaboration and leadership skills.
- Must possess excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and communicate challenges effectively.
- Must possess a compassionate, relationship-based, and trauma-informed approach.
- Must possess high ethical standards, and the ability to apply discretion and trust with confidential material and situations.
- Knowledge of Google (Gmail and Chat, Drive, Meet, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with a team, both in oral and written format, especially when communicating technical phrases to audiences who may not be familiar with systems.
- Must possess the ability to effectively apply analytical and problem-solving skills while providing real time solutions.
- Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Knowledge of community health resources that support life improvement in physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health, economic security, employment, positive social and family interdependence and positive cultural identity including:
- Knowledge of referral procedures and admittance criteria for health care and community providers.
- Ability to network and collaborate with healthcare and other social and cultural agencies that can provide services to the patients and families.
- Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building.
- Knowledge and competency in Behavioral Health and substance Use Disorder diagnoses and related symptoms.
- Knowledge and competency in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and calming techniques.
- Knowledge and competency in risk factors for suicide/homicide.
- Knowledge and competency in risk assessment and safety planning.
