Job Summary:

$7,500 Sign on Bonus available to external candidates only who have at least 1+ years of experience

When surgeons are in the operating room, the Surgical Tech First Assistant, Certified, will help in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions to help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.

You will maintain the sterile field and address any breaks in technique. You will prepare surgical cases and make sure adequate supplies and instruments are prepared based on the case and patient needs.

This role provides a leadership opportunity as you will act as a preceptor and role model for new staff and students by offering guidance in the first assisting role.

Requirements
  • Education:

    Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Certified Surgical Technologist program.
  • Skills:

    Must be able to understand directions and be able to communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.
  • Years of

    Experience:

    3+ years’ experience in the operating room
  • Certification:
    Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) or certification from NCCT required. CPR required. Must be successful in completion of a course in preparing the Surgical Technologist as a First Assistant in surgery. This course shall meet the recommended education standards for first assisting established by the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and shall include clinical practice under the direction of a registered nurse first assistant or licensed surgeon.
