Summary:
The Peer Support Specialist position is a key role within the Recovery Housing program, providing peer support, guidance, and resources to clients as they enter, reside in, and transition out of Recovery Housing. The full-time Peer Specialist will work collaboratively with clients to develop and implement Individualized Recovery Plans, assist in building recovery capital, and promote healthy living through engagement in structured activities.
This role fosters a supportive environment that encourages growth, connection, and resilience in recovery.
Schedule:
Tuesday – Saturday; 10am – 6pm
- Support Clients Entering Recovery Housing:
- Welcome new clients into Recovery Housing and provide orientation to house rules, expectations, and available resources.
- Assist clients in understanding the recovery process and in developing a personalized recovery plan.
- Individualized Recovery Planning:
- Collaborate with clients to identify recovery goals, barriers, and strengths.
- Guide clients in the development and implementation of strategies to achieve and sustain recovery.
- Provision of Peer Support:
- Conduct individual peer support sessions focused on recovery goals, coping strategies, and personal development.
- Facilitate peer-led support groups, fostering a sense of community and mutual encouragement.
- Engagement in Healthy
Activities:
- Assist clients in accessing and engaging in healthy activities such as utilizing workout facilities, participating in skill-building workshops, or attending educational sessions.
- Support clients in learning and using technology for personal growth, employment readiness, and recovery support.
- Family Involvement and Community Integration:
- Involve families in the recovery process as appropriate, providing education and resources to support the client’s journey.
- Facilitate connections to recovery supports in the home, workplace, and broader community.
- Monitoring and Accountability:
- Track clients’ progress in achieving recovery milestones and provide regular feedback and adjustments to their recovery plans.
- Ensure adherence to house rules and policies, maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
- Collaboration and Training:
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other staff to address client needs and program improvements.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and stay informed about best practices in recovery support.
