Overview
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide accounting and finance support to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and senior members of the Finance team. Participate in daily, monthly and year-end checklists for the purpose of timely and accurate reporting the financial data of the department. All activities must support the Lucas Metropolitan Housing (LMH) mission, strategic goals, and objectives.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work. Other responsibilities, duties, and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.
- Coordinates utility payments and documents monthly consumption data.
- Maintains records on fixed assets for insurance and accounting purposes. Recording annual depreciation and closing out of Capital Fund grants.
- Records monthly journal entries as assigned by the CFO (Cash and Accrual).
- Performs reconciliations as assigned by the CFO.
- Research new HUD and Accounting pronouncements that impact the agency. Ensures knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assists CFO and senior members of the department with special requests, projects and assignments.
- Assists Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes when necessary.
- Assists CFO with monthly HUD/Board Reporting
- Assists CFO with preparation of the agency’s annual budget.
- Manages annual 1099 process, to include pulling data and mailing by mandated deadline.
- Assists CFO with management of Year End Audit.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA/PERRP safety standards that pertain to essential functions and maintains licenses and certifications as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or related field and a minimum of three (3) years administrative experience in accounting, purchasing and/or contracting is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a valid Ohio or Michigan driver’s license and be insurable under the Agency’s plan.
Technical SkillsTo perform this job successfully, the employee should have strong computer skills (e.g. MS Word, Excel, and Outlook). Must have the ability to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.
