The APQP Engineer will lead and coordinate the implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes for new product development and launch. The engineer will ensure quality standards are met from concept through production by collaborating with cross‑functional teams and applying best practices in risk assessment, process control, and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Functions- Leads and manages APQP activities for new product introductions and process changes.
- Develops and maintains key APQP documentation, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.
- Works closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure quality requirements are understood and met throughout the product lifecycle.
- Facilitates Process FMEA sessions with cross‑functional teams.
- Supports the development of measurement systems and capability studies (MSA, SPC).
- Manages customer‑specific requirements and communicates effectively with customers and suppliers on quality issues.
- Reviews and interprets dimensional results to communicate improvements.
- Reviews GD&T and advises on any revisions if necessary.
- Ensures compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality standards.
- Provides training to other team members on quality‑related topics and best practices.
- Reviews and approves check fixture designs based on supplied GD&T.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, preferably within automotive or manufacturing industries.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, GD&T, and SPC.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
