Toledo Tool & Die is adding another EHS Specialist to our growing EHS team, in order to support the company's growth. Just this year, as TTD has continued to expand, we have reimagined our safety philosophy and tripled our EHS team. As we continue to make safety the forefront of our operations, we're looking for an EHS Specialist to call our Toledo-area plant home.

The EHS Specialist will support compliance, employee engagement, and vision of employee safety, environmental stewardship, and health at the Toledo Tool & Die Toledo-area locations. This role will work directly with the EHS manager and site management to implement sustainable practices that ensure employee safety and compliance. The candidate is knowledgeable within OSHA, EPA, and ANSI standards with the ability to clearly communicate and relate to all employees within the organization.
They have leadership skills to drive continuous improvement within the programs and drive completion of multiple projects and tasks at hand.
- Support collecting daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and reporting systems.
- Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed by employees and suggest risk mitigation strategies through the Job Safety Analysis process.
- Recommend and implement appropriate risk mitigation ideas and programs, including ergonomics.
- Train and assist others (managers, employees, etc.) to complete their safety and compliance responsibilities (audits, follow safety rules, etc.).
- Conduct appropriate inspections and audits, and ensure corrective actions are monitored and documented.
- Enforce compliance with EHS programs at designated facilities
- Complete, document, and submit required EHS monthly permit related information for compliance.
- Conduct EHS training as needed.
- Respond to and investigate events including injuries and near-miss events. Drive closure of effective corrective / preventive actions, as assigned.
- Provide managers with regulatory information and direction to ensure compliance with external / internal audits and Federal, State, Local EHS regulations.
- Conduct environmental compliance site audits of non-hazardous waste, NPDES, as assigned.
- Prepare environmental compliance reports and permits.
- Respond to emergency situations when they arise.
- Ability to multi-task between sites and specific projects as needed.
- Perform other duties, as assigned, in support of the EHS Plan.
- 2+ years EHS Industry experience preferred.
- Minimum 4-year degree in science or related field.
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with and work well with others in order to manage projects, meetings.
- Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence people and drive change.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high consideration to detail.
- Must possess time management skills and have the ability to meet deadlines.
- Works well independently and in a group environment.
- Has the ability to deliver internal training effectively.
- Has critical thinking and problem-solving skills but is able to understand the department's overall objectives.
- Must be able to be entrusted with confidential information.
- Familiar working with various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, cloud-based systems, networking, and e-mail programs.
