Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Responsibilities
- You will coordinate work while assuring proper inter-trade and inter-shop coordination, high levels of quality assurance with timely yet orderly job completion.
- You will demonstrate proper work methods, provide on the job training for workers, correct improper electronics work methods, and ensure assigned work procedures are being followed.
- You will ensure safe work practices and good housekeeping while assuring timely tool, equipment, material, and procedure availability.
- You will answer questions of the supervisor on overall work operations and problems.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position requires that the selectee have visual acuity and accurate color discrimination.
- This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

- Ability to locate malfunctioning circuits, components, etc., using appropriate test equipment within the functional system, and to determine method of repair. Examples include:
Diagnosing, troubleshooting and determining remedy in an electronic circuit, unit, or system. - Ability to read, utilize, and work from complicated blueprints, diagrams, technical manuals, and electronic schematic.
- Ability to plan and execute sequence work.
- Ability to troubleshoot with instruments such as voltmeters, tube testers, oscillograph, bridges, frequency meters, etc.
- Ability to visually inspect to detect trouble.
- Ability to troubleshoot on the basis of instructional manual and drawings.
