First Four Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our client in overseeing the company’s day-to-day accounting operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll support, and assisting with financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience within construction, shipyard, government contracting, or industrial environments and will be comfortable managing the full accounting cycle while supporting leadership with financial insights.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping
, including general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations - Process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare and process weekly or biweekly payroll
, including payroll tax filings - Reconcile bank, credit card, and vendor accounts regularly
- Maintain accurate records of job costing and project-related expenses
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare financial reports including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Assist with documentation and reporting requirements related to government contracts or defense-related projects
- Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, and tax professionals
- Maintain organized accounting records and documentation for audits and reporting
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 3–5+ years of full charge bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience in construction, government contracting, shipyard, or industrial environments strongly preferred
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Quick Books, Sage, or similar ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices
- Experience with job costing and project-based accounting preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with government contracting compliance or DCAA-related reporting
- Familiarity with project accounting and cost tracking
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with project managers and leadership
