The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi‑Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
We are seeking an experienced Software Project Lead with a robust Information Technology (IT) and Software Development background to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical point of contact for the software development efforts within the Command‑and‑Control Project Management Office. This role is responsible for leading cross‑functional software teams, ensuring alignment with mission‑critical objectives, and delivering high‑quality software solutions that support NASA's command‑and‑control infrastructure and associated Project Manager.
The candidate should be familiar with the product lifecycle phases from initiation through delivery. We are seeking an innovative and results‑driven Software Project Lead to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead high‑impact projects in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment while leveraging cutting‑edge tools and methodologies.
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the GSE subsystem software development projects, ensuring alignment with all interfaces between local & remote software systems.
- Coordinate activities across software engineering, systems engineering, testing, and integration teams. Facilitate collaboration between internal stakeholders and external partners. Work closely with Project Managers, operations, and hardware teams to align software efforts with broader project goals.
- Serve as the primary interface odl between Eso teams, project leadership and the Integrated Product Team (IPT). Provide regular status updates, technical briefings, and documentation to stakeholders.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to the subsystem software developers. Define and manage their detailed tasks throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Ensure all GSE software deliverables meet NASA's safety, security, and documentation standards.
- Identify project risks and issues early, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate as necessary to ensure project continuity.

Qualifications – External- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution and four years related experience.
- Must have a strong understanding of software development principles, CMMI, Version One, software change management processes, and other agile software development tools.
- Must have experience working with requirements (development, definitions, documentation, etc).
- Experience in hardware/software development and systems engineering in the Aerospace industry is highly desirable.
- Must be able to coordinate work between multiple project disciplines.
- Must be self‑motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work independently or with minimal supervision.
- Requires demonstrated leadership skills as evidence by prior experiences.
- Excellent communication, presentation and customer interface skills required.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment
Uid. - Proficiency in industry‑standard tools, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint. Knowledge of Power BI is a bonus.
