- The CS Specialist will provide support for instrumentation and control system (I&CS) deliverables, including development of commissioning plans, procedures, test matrices, and temporary Allen Bradley PLC configurations.
- The role encompasses both design-phase responsibilities and commissioning-phase activities, supporting system testing, calibration, startup, and handover activities in coordination with engineering, construction, and operations teams.
- Develop and maintain commissioning plans, procedures, test matrices, and temporary PLC configurations including I/O sequencing, temporary databases, HMI graphics, and Modbus
TCP/IP address lists. - Revise scoped drawings, subcontract packages, site-specific test plans, procedures, and schedules.
- Prepare Advanced Work Packages (AWPs) and Instrument Inspection & Test Records (ITPs).
- Prepare test matrices to support Instrument ITR assignments in project databases.
- Assist with engineering design review, interface meetings, and procurement documentation reviews.
- Support development and expediting of required spare parts and purchase requisitions.
- Provide input for system and equipment drawings, vendor manuals, 3-D models, and demonstration requirements.
- Prepare detailed startup test plans, procedures, and work packages for system commissioning activities.
- Perform Instrument-specific installation inspections, calibrations, and functional tests.
- Apply NASA, industry, and regulatory standards for instrument testing and project procedures.
- Participate in design reviews, functional activities, and subsystem walkdowns.
- Prepare Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), and work permits.
- Support subsystem turnover package development and formal handover activities.
- Conduct ML2 instrument testing, commissioning, and startup activities in coordination with all stakeholders.
- Review and approve completed test records, procedures, and related documentation.
- Coordinate supplier Technical Advisors to ensure proper commissioning and budget adherence.
- Document work activities and provide updates to support project schedules and progress tracking.
- Supervise field manual craft workers and ensure performance aligns with project requirements.
- Perform system turnover walkdowns and manage punch list items for assigned areas.
- Execute startup and commissioning work according to project-specific and corporate procedures.
- Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and project management tools to track progress.
- Perform other duties as directed to support project activities.
- Work hours as required, including shift work, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related field and 8 10 years of relevant experience, or 12 14 years related experience including commissioning, testing, engineering, operations, maintenance, or military experience.
- Minimum of 5 7 years of experience in testing, calibration, system startup, and commissioning of field instrumentation.
- At least 5 years of experience supervising and managing craft workers performing commissioning activities.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
- Eligibility to obtain NASA access badge.
- In-depth knowledge of instrumentation, controls systems, and related design, testing, and operational principles.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, safety requirements, and design criteria including lockout/tagout and NFPA-70E.
- Skilled in software tools including Excel, Word, and Access for planning and tracking work.
- Experience with instrument selection, installation, calibration, and functional testing.
- Familiarity with PLC configuration using Rockwell RSLogix 5000.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Previous experience with aerospace or NASA instrumentation commissioning and testing is preferred.
- Experience with startup and test procedures, system scoping, scheduling, and procedure writing.
