The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
ResponsibilitiesAreas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Performs non-routine and complex inspection assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others.
- Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches.
- Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.
- Perform one or a combination of the following:
- Inspects major units, devices, or equipment.
- Conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.
High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training in the applicable area of expertise, and required certifications and 8 years of related experience and technical training and certification as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.

Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.
- Demonstrates extensive proficiency within expertise and ability to train less experienced inspectors.
- Under direction of the engineering staff, applies engineering principles and theories in inspecting, testing, and modifying equipment such as machinery.
- Assists with the production of prototypes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to support all shifts, weekends, and overtime.
Physical Requirements
- Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.
- Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.
- Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
- Must be able to work in tight confined space areas.
- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
- Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
- Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
- Cranes and other heavy equipment such as crane carriers, Hi-Rangers, man lift platforms, hydraulic lifts, spider staging, converter dollies, cargo lift trailers, and tractor/trailers.
- Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance.
