Responsibilities
  • Conduct appropriate evaluative procedures, assess patient’s home environment as appropriate, and identify patient’s equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
  • Identify functional speech defects, establish goals to improve patient’s speech function, and participate in the development of the team care plan.
  • Administer speech therapy program utilizing specialized therapeutic techniques and/or equipment in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Recommend communication devices/aids as indicated.
  • Confer with the attending physician, home health team members, and patient and/or family/caregivers to promote coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Participate in meetings, in‑services and other related activities as needed.
  • Identify patient and family needs for other home health services and refer them to the services.
  • Supervise homemakers / home health aides when they are participating in the patient’s therapy regime.
  • Prepare and submit clinical and progress notes in a timely manner and in accordance with Otterbein Home Health, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain clinical competency in speech language pathology practice and theory.
  • Instruct patient and/or family/caregiver and other team members in the patient’s treatment regime as indicated.
  • Perform other duties as required to facilitate the delivery of speech language pathology services and swallowing assistive services.
  • Complete a minimum of twelve (12) hours of in‑services per year.
  • Meet or exceed delivery of Otterbein Home Health service standards in a consistent fashion.

  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws, Medicare regulations and established Otterbein Home Health company policies and procedures (including confidentiality and HIPPA).
  • Conduct all business activities in a professional and ethical manner and adhere to Otterbein Home Health’s Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
  • Education: Must possess a master’s degree from an accredited program in Speech‑Language Pathology.
  • Experience: One year of supervised professional experience in providing Speech‑Language Pathology services; meets the education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology, granted by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification: Must possess current license as a Speech Language Pathologist from the State of Ohio or have made application for same; must possess valid driver’s license; must have use of an automobile in good working condition and automobile insurance; satisfactory criminal background check; maintains current CPR certification.
