Job Description
Be a part of a world‑class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial as a PACU/PAT Nurse at the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tinley Park. This is a 100% onsite opportunity; the position is based in the greater Chicagoland area. Under the direction of the PACU Charge RN/Nurse Manager, the nurse is responsible for pre‑admission, pre‑operative and post‑operative care of the patient and directs professional and other health‑care personnel in the delivery of nursing care to surgical patients.
The role involves providing patient education, complying with standards, policies and procedures, and supporting the vision and mission of Ingalls Ambulatory Surgery Center. The position has wide access to protected health information (PHI) and requires strict confidentiality under HIPAA policies.
- Collaborate closely with physicians to assess, design, coordinate, implement, and evaluate the patient’s plan of care and outcomes.
- Perform nursing duties, document in electronic medical records, demonstrate necessary skills and knowledge to provide complex nursing skills, delegate tasks to other care team members according to unit‑specific competencies, safely administer medications, perform waived lab testing, conduct pre‑admission screening calls, review medical history, provide patient instructions and post‑discharge phone calls.
- Participate in suite turnover/cleaning and patient transportation.
- Act as a preceptor.
- Participate in huddles, staff meetings and check email at least once a month.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 1 year of perioperative experience, preferably in ambulatory surgery.
- Computer literacy; knowledge of EPIC preferred.
- Ability to plan and lead clinical operations as a member of a management team.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies.
- Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with patients, families, physicians, co‑workers, management, and ancillary departments.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.

Compensation& Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The pay range is based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
