Overview
Supervises customer service associates and designated hitters. Responsible for managing the front end of the store and making recommendations on the overall operations of the Pharmacy and Retail Store. Supports the Store Manager in achieving company deliverables, works alternate schedule, and assumes full store responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager. Ensures proper merchandising, asset protection, and improved store sales and profitability.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage store team members, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and discipline to ensure engagement and achievement of company deliverables.
- Engage customers and patients, resolve complaints, and model best practices for customer service.
- Monitor customer service metrics, provide coaching, training, and development plans for continuous improvement.
- Supervise store operations: assign daily activities, delegate tasks, manage shift scheduling, approve time records, manage scheduling conflicts.
- Collaborate with external partners and support community outreach opportunities.
- Leverage data, analysis, and team input to make fact‑based decisions and monitor impact.
- Control store cash management: register counts, withdraws, armored car pickups, safe deposits, change orders, and bookkeeping.
- Supervise front‑end and pharmacy inventory: resets, revisions, price changes, trend analysis, corrective action, and training.
- Execute operational feedback from the Store Manager and District Manager, ensuring delegated supervision.
- Maintain a clean, presentable store, manage repair and maintenance, respond to emergencies, and ensure safety compliance.
- Ensure team members have working knowledge of all computer and technology systems.
- Utilize the Security Operations Center to protect staff and store.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including sale of alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Analyze financial and performance data, create action plans, and drive store improvement initiatives.
- Support pharmacy operations during busy periods, including serving as a pharmacy technician when necessary.
- Lead training, mentoring, and coaching for career development; conduct performance reviews and recommend disciplinary action or termination when appropriate.
- Acquire and retain talent, build staffing pipelines, hire, and manage recruitment processes.
- Maintain proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training per company policy and laws.
- Establish a culture of accountability through performance plans, improvement plans, and constructive discipline.
- Complete Store Manager learning and development program and all required courses.
- Maintain an individual development plan, seek feedback, and commit to self‑development.
- Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy technician license where required.
- Communicate regularly with team members, hold one‑on‑one discussions, group meetings, and respond to questions or concerns.
- Assist Store Manager in planning and communicating company and store strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree with solid academic record, all majors welcome, or satisfactory completion of Walgreens Community Internship Program, or High School Diploma/GED plus two years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, professional ethics, self‑motivation, strong communication, and business acumen.
- Completion of Store Manager training program (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of ESM start date.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours.
- Willingness to accept promotion into a Store Manager position, including potential relocation.
- Ability to transfer to other Walgreens retail assets within the same hiring area.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Internal candidates:
Management experience, including supervising others, managing, and assigning work across front‑end and pharmacy. - External candidates:
Business majors with prior retail or food industry experience.

This information is being provided to promote pay transparency and equal employment opportunities current salary range for this position is $45,000 - $71,550. The actual salary within this range that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
