Description
The Project Engineer II - Internal IT is a mid-level technical role responsible for managing and delivering IT infrastructure projects across diverse environments. This position involves direct ownership of project execution — including system design, server configuration, and network integration — while ensuring performance, security, and scalability. Ideal candidates will have experience in managed service provider (MSP) or consulting environments, working across multiple client networks and infrastructures to deliver robust and efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning, implementation, and documentation of IT infrastructure and system integration projects.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox), and hybrid cloud environments.
- Design and implement advanced network solutions including firewalls, routing, switching, VLAN segmentation, VPNs, SD‑WAN, and BGP.
- Manage system migrations, backups, and disaster recovery implementations.
- Administer and integrate Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and on‑prem Active Directory services.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams and vendors to align deliverables with scope and security standards.
- Develop scripts or automation (Power Shell, Bash, or Python) to streamline deployments and reporting.
- Document technical procedures, configuration standards, and system diagrams in the knowledgebase.
- Serve as an escalation point for junior engineers during deployment and post‑implementation phases.
- 4–7 years of experience in IT project engineering, systems administration, or similar technical roles.
- Proven experience in MSP or consulting environments, with exposure to multiple client networks, infrastructures, and technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking (firewalls, SD‑WAN, BGP, VLANs, VPNs) and server technologies (Windows, Linux, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS) and hybrid deployments.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox).
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex deployments independently and deliver projects on time.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Azure Administrator Associate - AWS Certified Sys Ops Administrator – Associate
- Cisco CCNA or Ruckus RCNA
- Microsoft Certified:
Azure Solutions Architect Expert - AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
- Cisco CCNP Enterprise or Ruckus WISE Level 1/2
- CompTIA Security+, Project+, or ITIL Foundation
- Standard work hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. - May require scheduled night or weekend work to meet project deadlines.
- Extended travel may be required, including assignments lasting up to one month at a time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights (lifts, ladders) for installing cameras, access points, and cabling.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer‑based tasks.
After a 30‑day waiting period, full‑time employees (who work at least 30 hours per week) and their dependents are eligible to enroll in health benefits utilizing the Cigna network.
