Job Overview

As a Pre-Sales Engineer III, you will be instrumental in driving technical excellence and supporting the success of our sales team. In this client-facing position, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze business and technical requirements, design tailored service solutions, and deliver clear, value-driven assessments of prospective client environments. Leveraging industry standards and Proven’s best practices, you will partner with sales to recommend solutions that are both technically sound and strategically aligned with client goals.

This role requires a strong technical foundation, the ability to think strategically, and exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with both technical and executive stakeholders.

• Master Proven IT’s offerings, best practices and stay current on industry and technology trends.
• Conduct technical assessments of prospective client environments.
• Conduct technical research and ensure solutions are aligned with both customer requirements and best practices.
• Partner with the sales team to translate discovery findings into proposed managed service programs, including scope, service tiers, and SLAs.
• Gather infrastructure requirements, perform assessments, and design tailored solutions.
• Quantify the business value of recommended solutions to support ROI/TCO conversations.
• Collaborate with Sales, Onboarding, and Engineering teams to ensure a seamless transition from sale to delivery.
• Mentor, develop and assist Pre‑Sales Engineers 1 & 2.
• Partner with sales and leadership teams to design, refine, and continuously improve assessment methodologies, driving alignment with evolving technologies and prospective client environments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• Strong background as a Project Engineer or equivalent (preferable with an MSP) with expertise in IT infrastructure, networking, cloud, Microsoft, and security.
• Skilled in designing and analyzing solutions using Cloud and On‑Premise environments, AWS, Azure, VMware, Cisco, Microsoft ecosystems, BCDR systems, Security, and Enterprise network infrastructure.
• Certifications required:
  CompTIA Security+, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator and Fundamentals, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non‑technical audiences, technical stakeholders, Financial, and Executives (CIO, CTO, CEO, COO) with consultative thought leadership.
• Proven analytical and strategic problem‑solving skills.
• Advanced skills in creating technical documentation and presentations.
• Able to work independently in fast‑paced, collaborative environments.
• Experience mentoring, developing or leading.
• Flexibility for client travel.
• Experience with industry business standard software products, Rapid Fire Tools, and Connect Wise is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable form.

• Prolonged sitting; frequent use of computer and office equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
