Maintenance Technician (M1)

Location:

ALS Geochemistry, Timmins

Reports to:

Facilities Manager  About the Position:  This role will consist primarily of assisting in repairs and maintenance to the building and the property.  Specific Responsibilities  
• Assist trades and contractors;  
• Assist senior facilities staff with maintenance work as required;  
• Property maintenance including dumping garbage and maintaining both indoor and outdoor areas as required;  
• Operate a forklift to dump garbage, move pallets, etc.;  
• Purchase and transport of building materials and maintenance supplies;  
• Assist with minor building repairs such as painting, basic carpentry and basic plumbing etc.;  
• Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment i.e. changing air and water filters, cleaning scrubber nozzles, and greasing bearings;  
• Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;  
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;  
• Other duties as assigned.  Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office;

Required Qualifications:

• Valid full Provincial drivers licence;  
• Forklift certificate or experience will be considered an asset (full training will be provided);  Physical Demands:  
• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time;  
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;  
• Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling, and working with machines;  
• Comfortable in environments with high noise levels;  
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.  
• Please note that ALS Geochemistry operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
